Our next Workplace Health and Safety Manager will lead the way in ensuring we deliver this mission whilst keeping our staff and guests safe.

 

What is expected of our next WHS Manager?

Oversee the development, planning, organisation, and execution of health and safety framework and programs to prevent injuries, manage risks, and elevate employee awareness. Monitor risk and report non-compliance whilst managing workers' compensation and complex cases, as well as supervising the casework of all employees injured at work. Our WHS Manager reports within the Risk and Sustainability function and is accountable for the leadership of a small team, whilst also being hands on to ensure work is delivered to a high standard and understanding.

The priority accountabilities include;

  • Communicate clearly to implement the WHS strategy and planning within the team and broader organisation
  • Monitor and review performance against health and safety key performance indicators
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all regulatory requirements impacting health, safety, and injury management, as well as their effect on operational practices within the company's compliance framework.
  • Develop systems that empower employees to enhance workplace health and safety through participation in committees, hazard identification, and the adoption of safe work practices. Develop and continuously improve WH&S frameworks, policies, processes and procedures to ensure that stakeholders clearly understand compliance with regulations, business rules and operational activities.

Offer expert guidance on understanding and implementing policies and standards, address intricate or disputed inquiries and problems, and empower others to make informed decisions.

The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team, strategic thinking, resourceful and not afraid to be hands-on in any of our business units. You’ll be passionate about your role as part of the larger organisation and bringing the Group’s values to life. The WHS Manager we need is a critical thinker who is solutions focused, seeking a diverse environment and is comfortable working on complex and ranging issues that are critical to keeping our workforce safe.

 

Ideally, you’ll bring to work every day:

  • A relentless work ethic and high energy level
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exhibit an exceptional attention to detail and solutions focus
  • Be calm under pressure with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple programs of work within legislative frameworks
  • Ability to travel and work statewide as required, across all Federal Group Hospitality and Tourism properties
  • Demonstrated experience in WHS Management and relevant qualifications.
